This IELTS lesson is to help you learn how to correctly use prepositions when describing graphs in Writing Task 1 of the Academic Version of the IELTS exam. We look at which prepositions to use after the words INCREASE, DECREASE etc. as they change depending on whether they are verbs of nouns. It also depends on whether we are talking about specific numbers or numbers in general. We look at prepositions used with time such as IN, BETWEEN… AND, FROM … TO, and SINCE. We compare the difference between BY and TO with example charts. Finally we look at a summary graph using many different prepositions.
